HIKING - KLIFKI SPRINGS, KALENTZI

Suggested visit period: all year long

Starting from Rodami you can walk to the Klifki springs. It is an area of rare natural beauty in the heart of the canyon of Arachthos river. You can admire the 15m high waterfall. which is located inside a small and narrow gorge and it is created by an underground river. You can swim in the natural pools that are created by the 3 waterfalls. In case that you will use a vehicle, you can park it at the beginning of the path that goes down to the Klifki springs. .

Route length : 3,40 Km

Route duration with return by using a vehicle and hiking:  1,5 h

Route duration by hiking:  3h

Altitudes: Kalentzi  600m – Klifki springs  300m

Starting from Rodami, drive to the mountain refuge of Melissourgi. That is the starting point of the path that leads to the Kefalovriso waterfalls, they are the highest waterfalls in Greece with a height of 350m. A breathtaking landscape that reminds of the Alps. Pine trees embrace the mountain slopes and between the peaks appear the two waterfalls, one is called “Neroulas (Watery)” because it never freezes, the water flows constantly all year long, while the other one is superficial and it has water when the snow melts and it is dry in the summer. The point where the water falls is called “Kefalovriso”. Also it has been created a track for canyoning..

Halfway of the path there is the old watermill, that now is transformed in a cafeteria. Throughout the route the hiking is done in parallel with the water stream. At the end of the path there is a waterfall that creates a natural water pool.

RAFTING IN ARACHTHOS RIVER

Arachthos river is the most suitable and interesting river for rafting in Greece. It offers simple and easy routes for beginners and kids. On the other hand, the difficult routes, with a duration of 4 hours, offer excitement even to the most demanding rafters. Departure from Rodami guesthouse with the minibus of the rafting company. Arrival at the Politsa bridge, the starting point of the rafting route.

The descent of the river lasts around 1,5 – 2 hours (depends on the water level). Halfway of the route we will do a short stop at the waterfall of the Klifki springs and we will continue crossing the canyon of Arachthos with the boats. We finish at the famous Plaka bridge ( the biggest single-arc stone bridge in the Balkans ). Departure and return at Rodami guesthouse.
